The People's Award 2009

The Daily Mirror

The Daily Mirror once again sponsored the People's Award, where the public get the chance to vote for their winner from a shortlist of nominees. The proceeds of the phone and text voting, together with a £1,000 donation, were donated to NACRO, the criminal justice related charity of the winner's choice. This year's winner , Steve Osbaldeston and Ozbox, was announced at the Justice Award's ceremony on Tuesday, 20 October, where he was presented with his award and a cheque by Kevin Maguire, the Daily Mirror's associate political editor.

This year's finalists were:

  • Marilyn Baldwin - Founder, Think Jessica, Derbyshire
  • Julie Hughes - Family Liaison Officer, West Yorkshire
  • Stephen Osbaldeston - Ozbox, Derbyshire [winner]
  • Harpreet Sihota - The Haven, London
  • June Webb - Road Peace Memorial Garden, Greater Manchester
